How To Join

Would you like to be of service to the US Air Force? Do you want to learn all about aerospace, leadership, and character, all while making new friends? If so, join the Civil Air Patrol now and rise to its challenges.

To be a Cadet in Civil Air Patrol you must:

  • Be above 12 years old, but younger than 19 years old

  • Parents to contact our squadron Primary Recruiting & Retention Officer, 1st Lt Josline Pinto at josline.pinto@njwg.cap.gov for more information about the program and upcoming open house, if any.

  • Attend the open house along with prospective cadets for more information about the program.

  • If selected, come to three of our meetings consecutively. They are on Tuesdays from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at JP Stevens High School in Edison, NJ. This is to ensure a cadet enjoys the program and feels like it is right for them before committing. For the first meeting, it is required that a parent or guardian accompany if the cadet wishes to continue. Meetings may be canceled due to weather, school closings, holidays, etc.

  • If the cadet likes the program, then on the third meeting the parent should bring the paperwork requested and ask to be completed by senior members.

  • The cadet should register by the method the senior member recommends, and then wait for confirmation of their membership. The cadet should continue to come to meetings as the approval process takes place.

  • If your membership is denied for some reason, your credit card will be refunded

Once you complete all these steps, you will officially be part of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program! Welcome!
