Cadets

Cadets

Cadets in CAP learn a multitude of things in their specific squadron, which helps them advance their education and training rapidly, which can help them be of service to the squadron, community, state, and nation, These tasks include:

  • Cadets are assigned their specific flight(Ex./Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot,  Golf, etc.)

  • Leadership:

    • Cadets are taught how to Lead and take effective command of other cadets, flights, or entire squadrons

    • Cadets can also learn to lead via textbooks provided by the squadrons which are used to complete online tests on eServices

    • Passing the leadership test is mandatory for a cadet to promote

  • Character Lessons:

    • Cadets are presented with different informational videos/activities that convey an important moral or lesson

    • This helps Cadets improve their character and overall presence, and can lead to a positive atmosphere which in turn can help the squadron prosper

  • Aerospace and SMART Program:

    • Being the auxiliary of the USAF is sure to include some form of aerospace that the cadets get to experience

    • The aerospace and SMART program is a cycle that consists of many aerospace and STEM related topics that are open to the Cadets who can choose what they want to be a part of

    • These include:

      • Model Rocketry

      • Biomed

      • Robotics

      • Java

      • Python

      • Flight Simulator

      • StellarXplorers

      • Cyber Patriots

    • And many more!

    • Like Leadership Tests, there are also Aerospace tests that can be found on eServices and are mandatory to promote as well

    • To help study for these tests, there are Aerospace Module textbooks provided by the squadron which the Cadets can utilize

  • Support Staff:

    • The Support Staff are multiple different groups that each specialize in different aspects which help the squadron thrive

    • These groups include:

      • Attendance Team

      • Morale Team

      • Web Maintenance Team

      • Historian Team

      • Emergency Services Team

      • Safety Team

      • Color Guard

      • Physical Training Team

      • Standards and Evaluation Team

      • Testing Assistant Team

      • Public Affairs Team

      • Volunteering/Fundraising Team

    • Cadets are offered a diversity of teams which can suit their skills and expertise which ultimately help the Squadron in many ways

All in all, the duty of Cadets in CAP can be summed up by the Cadet Oath which states: "I pledge to serve faithfully in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program and that I will attend meetings regularly, participate actively in unit activities, obey my officers, wear my uniform properly and advance my education and training rapidly to prepare myself to be of service to my community, state and nation."
