Who We Are

About CAP:

Civil Air Patrol came to be during the earliest days of World War 2, and ever since, this organization of airmen of all age has been of service to the whole country. It was founded on December 1st, 1941, with the purpose of mobilizing the nation’s civilian aviation resources to provide for national defense. CAP has evolved into a premier public service organization that still to this day carries out emergency service missions both on land and in air when required. Being that CAP is an auxiliary of the United States Air Force, it is also tasked with the duty of searching and finding the lost and making sure to provide comfort during disasters and to keep the homeland safe. It’s 60,000 plus members selflessly devote their time, energy, and expertise for the betterment of the country as well as providing for their community an education on aerospace/STEM to help shape future leaders through CAP’s cadet program. Even in the modern era, adults and cadets alike perform their duty with the utmost diligence as its founding members; therefore preserving the almost 80 year legacy of service all while maintaining its commitment to the 1,500 communities nationwide.

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to support American communities with emergency response, diverse aviation and ground services, youth development, promotion of air, space, and cyber power. This is seen throughout  various opportunities presented in its Cadet program.

Vision Statement: 

Our vision is to build the nation’s finest force of citizen volunteers to serve for America and provide for its diverse communities.

Core Values:

The very foundation that CAP is built upon are the core values. Each one of these values are presented in various ways and through various people and rankings, which help sustain CAP as an organization and allow it to help those in need. These core values are: Integrity, Volunteer Service, Excellence, and Respect.
