Volunteer Services

Here in Civil Air Patrol, Volunteer Service is one of our Core Values. In the Captain “Bud” Jackson Composite Squadron, we take this core value seriously. We participate in numerous amounts of volunteering opportunities. Here are some of the big events that cadets from our squadron participate in:

  1. New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning

CAP Cadet Soars in Her Beautiful Balloon

In this festival, cadets get the opportunity to aid festival staff in facilitating the various locations and hold several important posts including crowd control, vehicle marshaling, security, parking duty, and traffic detail. Cadets can learn about the different posts that law-enforcement hold and do when they are at special events.

  1. Wreaths Across America

Each December, on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor, and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 1,600 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.

On top of these big events, there are also smaller but nonetheless important volunteering opportunities where cadets are able to help, not just their squadron, but their entire community.
