Physical Training

PT stands for physical training, and as its name implies, is meant to physically train cadets while motivating them to maintain a lifelong habit of regular physical activity.

There are 5 main parts to PT:

  • Activities- Cadets will undergo a series of physical but interactive activities that challenge their physical capabilities as well as motivates them to push beyond.

  • Academics- Cadets get to understand the concepts of fitness, nutrition, training, and much more. They learn it through presentations or hands on activities that they provide them with lessons that can be utilized daily.

  • Attitudes- Cadets will develop a positive and motivated attitude with their peers and squadron members.

  • Assessment- Cadets will undergo different PT tests that they are required to pass in order to promote. The requirements for different exercises vary by age. It also acts as a tool to measure a Cadet’s physical progress.

  • Awards- Cadets who excel at PT, and show that they are motivated may receive different awards. Many cadets are motivated by this and push themselves to try the best they can.

PT is a part of Civil Air Patrol that upholds its ideals; the Core Values. Integrity and excellence are by far the most present values that are upheld during PT.
