Q: How many days should I do CAP before I become a member?
A: You should do CAP for 3 days before applying to become a member. These 3 days are to see if CAP is right for you.
Q: How much does it cost to join CAP?
A: NJ 102 Squadron fess is $12 per year. CAP Cadet membership fee (New and Renew) is $45 per year.
Q: How old do I need to be in order to join CAP as a cadet?
A: You should be between 12 and 19 years old, and in 6th grade if not 12 yet.
Q: Can I join CAP with a medical disability?
A: Yes, you can join CAP with a medical disability, although it might be tough or not possible to do certain activities with a medical disability.
Q: Can non-U.S. residents join CAP?
A: Yes, anyone legally situated in the US can join CAP. If you are not a permanent resident, a waiver of citizenship should be requested in order to join.
Q: How often are the meetings?
A: NJ102 cadets meet every week on Tuesday at John P. Stevens HS. Cadets are expected to arrive at 6:15 PM to prepare for the meeting that starts at 6.30 PM and ends at 8.30 PM EST.
Q: Who supervises the cadets?
A: Senior members, who are officially screened by the FBI, supervise the cadets and maintain safety.
Q: Once I join CAP, where do I get the uniform?
A: Once joining CAP, the uniform can be bought from Vanguard. A voucher to buy the uniform will be provided by email, once you become a member.
Q: Can Adults/Parents join CAP?
A: Yes, Adults/Parents can become Senior Members in CAP. Check the Join/Adults tab for more info on becoming a Senior Member.
Q: Does joining CAP mean that cadets have to join the military?
A: No, cadets do not have to join the military, unless they wish to join the military.
